About Project R.O.O.T

Project R.O.O.T. (Realizing Our Own Talents) is an evidence based, social emotional learning program that offers writing workshops and literary enhancement to youth and adults. We serve our community through multiple methods, including strategic partnerships and client-centered consulting for schools, out-of-school time programs, and social service organizations. Below is a sampled list of workshops that are frequently requested. For more information or inquiries about our full catalog of workshops, request a discovery call.

Freedom
&  Self-Love Workshop

In this workshop, we explore the importance of appreciating our body and learning from external challenges. We use poetry to reflect on self-love, and then write a poem or short story inspired by our experiences.

Elephant
in the Room Workshop

In this workshop series, we open conversation for participants to discuss the heavy emotions they may feel on a daily basis. There are often things left unsaid when leaving home, after a disagreement, or even within conversations with friends. Within this workshop, we acknowledge the unspoken emotions by giving ourselves the space to write it out. We learn about journaling, story telling, and poetry that can create a sense of safety for students and participants who may have an "elephant in the room" at home, at work, or at school.

Poetry & Me Workshop

In this workshop, Poetry, and M.E. (Multiplying Expression) our goal is to study ourselves and our identities through poetry and creative writing. We will study some poems and short stories where the writers thought about who they are and how they want to share themselves with the world.
